Fall Festival – Sunday, October 8, noon to 2 pm at Frontier Ranch at Mission Springs Conference Center. There will be a taco cart, bounce houses and a dessert potluck. Please bring a dessert to share. Suggested donation $5/person to cover costs.

Wings Harvest Jamboree – Sunday, October 15, 3-8 pm, Aptos Village Park. Fundraiser to benefit Wings Homeless Advocacy – tri tip BBQ, square dance caller, games for kids. Tickets available at www.wingsadvocacy.org

Faith Communities Shelter – Saturday, October 21, 5:30 pm, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Join Pastor Jeremiah in serving dinner to 16-20 homeless individuals before they are housed overnight at St. Philip’s church.

Congregational Business Meeting – Sunday, October 22, 11 am, in the sanctuary. Members, please plan to attend.

Club 4-5 – Youth Group for grades 4 and 5 will meet Saturday, October 28, 4 pm, at church.

Young Life Adventures getting ready for summer! And more…

Young Life Adventures Work Day
Join us on Saturday, April 30th from 9 AM to 2 PM to help YL Adventures get camp ready! We need skilled labor for some small construction projects as well as hard working folks to help with yard work and clean up. For clean up help, please bring rakes, shovels, brooms etc. If you have construction skills contact James for what to bring!

Faith Communities Shelter Help Needed on Saturday, May 21
Once a month, Erik and Heather Hedstrom prepare and serve dinner to the 16-20 homeless individuals at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church as part of the Faith Communities Shelter. Next month, on May 21, Erik & Heather are unable to be there and are searching for someone to make and serve dinner. Arrive at 5:30 pm, depart around 7. There are funds available up to $50 – turn your receipt in to Claudia in the office for reimbursement.

What’s Happening at Community Covenant

Adult Bible Study, Tuesday, January 19, 10:00 am, Fireside Room

Youth Groups will RESUME Sunday, January 24, 6 pm (middle school) 6:45 pm (high school). Dinner will be provided. Meet at church.

ECC Midwinter Conference in Chicago, Monday, January 25 – Friday, January 29. Pastors Jeremiah and Brian will be attending.

Annual Congregational Business Meeting, Sunday, January 31, after church. There will be a Short Term Mission Youth Fundraiser soup/salad lunch right after church. The meeting will begin shortly thereafter. Everyone is welcome to stay for the meeting; members please plan to attend.

Women’s Breakfast, Monday, February 1, 8:30 am, at Auntie Mame’s in Scotts Valley. (The Women’s Breakfast is usually held the fourth Monday of the month).

Here’s what is happening the next several days at Community Covenant:

Sunday, March 1
Chili Cook-off and CHIC Silent Auction – stay after worship for the fun! There are eight contenders for best chili and we’ll also serve hot dogs and popcorn. Taste chili, vote for your favorite, and bid on Silent Auction items. All proceeds from the silent auction go towards sending our 10 high school students to CHIC this summer.
Youth Group – meets at 7pm in the sanctuary

Tuesday, March 3, Adult Bible Study, 10 am in the Fireside Room

Wednesday, March 4, Men’s Bible Study, 6:30 pm in the Library

Sunday, March 8, Worship Service, 10:30 am, Kristi Van Pykeren is preaching; remember to set your clocks forward Saturday night for Day Light Saving Time.

On Sunday, March 15, Scott Weiss will share about his recent trip to Ethiopia after our church service at 10:30 am.

  • Thursday, February 26, a group of men from our church are going to visit the Moffett Field Historical Society Museum in Mountain View. They’re meeting at 8:30 am for coffee at Surf City and will leave for Moffett Field at 9:30 am. Contact Ed Hillman if you are interested.
  • Sunday, March 1, The Chili Cookoff will be here before you know it. This year we are having a Silent Auction with proceeds benefiting our youth going to CHIC (Covenant High in Christ) this summer. Look for details in the bulletin on Sunday and consider entering your chili in the cookoff or just coming to the cookoff and the auction. A couple of reminders:

Soup Groups are this weekend (February 6-8). If you have signed up for a soup group, you should have heard from either Sally or your hosts for information on the date and time of your soup group. If you have signed up and have not heard from anyone, please contact Sally.

Got a prayer to spare? On Sunday morning, take time to choose a heart from the poster in the narthex and pray for the young person named on the heart during the week leading to Valentine’s Day. Then, bring a short, encouraging note to church on Sunday, February 15 for that young person.
