Dear Community Covenant Church,

I hope this little note finds you all well and sheltering in place. I wanted to let you know that we have suspended all in-person activities at Community Covenant Church for the time being. From what we have been hearing from our Governor and local officials, this suspension of in-person church activities will be through the end of April.

This means first and foremost that all of our Sunday Morning services will be virtual. This will unfortunately include Easter this year, but good news, Jesus is still risen even if we have to celebrate together separately in our own homes. This also means that all planned activities are postponed including the all church workday that was planned for March 21st. If you have any questions about these please contact myself or Claudia.

Thank you for so many of you that continue to support our church financially during this time. If you would like to continue to worship through giving at our church please do so as the money is needed. You can give online through PayPal or Givelify by going to our church website https://ccsv.org/give/, by setting up online giving through your own bank, or you can mail a check to the church (2700 El Rancho Dr. Santa Cruz, 95060). And thank you for your incredible generosity toward our benevolence fund. We are looking forward to the ways that God is going to use this money to bless our church members who have been laid off.

Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow us all the days our lives: and we will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Grace and Peace to you,

Jeremiah Fair

Response to Santa Cruz County Health Office Recommendation

Dear Community Covenant Church,
The staff and the leadership team have spent the week prayerfully considering our response to the spread of the coronavirus. Our hope and prayer is that we can make wise decisions that help protect the most vulnerable from the spread of this disease. The following decision was not made in a spirit of fear, as John would say, but in a spirit of love for everyone in our church and city.

In this spirit of love, we have decided to follow the recommendation from Santa Cruz County to limit or cancel any gatherings over 50 people through March 22nd. In response to this, we will cancel live services at Community Covenant Church of Scotts Valley for Sundays 3/15 and 3/22. Rather, we will be encouraging you to engage with our church through the podcast and through video messages that I am working on recording for our church family. These will be linked on the church website, an all church email and our church Facebook page. You can also still participate in giving to the church by using Givelify, PayPal or mailing a check directly to the church office. (Ways to Give)

My friends I know that this is an inconvenience for many of you, but I believe we are being asked to inconvenience ourselves to protect the most vulnerable in our church. While I know that screen church is not as meaningful as live church, I hope that these two weeks of videos still help you feel connected to our church family in this time of national crisis. Know that I hope this challenge is giving us an opportunity to step outside of our routines and see where God is working.

I also want to note that if you are a member of the population most vulnerable to this virus, the county has encouraged you to travel and expose yourself as little as possible. This being said, if you feel nervous about going to the grocery store, please contact me and the church office. We would love to deliver groceries to you in order to keep you safe.

I look forward to the way that God uses us to love each other and our town even during this time of confusion and crisis. Please feel free to contact me at the church with any questions or concerns.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear – I John 4:18

May we indeed love each other in this time. And may we feel the calming presence of the Lord in Santa Cruz County.

In Him,
Jeremiah Fair
