Church Happenings

Saturday, June 6, Wings Homeless Advocacy Training session at Garfield Park Christian Church (the Circle Church), 111 Errett Circle, Santa Cruz from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. If you are interested in joining the Wings Ministry or are just curious what we are about, this is a great no obligation session with lunch provided. Please RSVP to Peggy Benedum at [email protected]

Saturday, June 13, Men’s Breakfast, meets at 8:30 am at Mollie’s Cafe on Mt. Herman Drive in Scotts Valley. All men are welcome; it’s a great, casual way to get to know other men in our church.

Also Saturday, June 13, is the Faith Community Shelter at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Scotts Valley. Community Covenant is joining with St. Philip’s where a group of 16-20 homeless participants rotate sleeping in a different church each night of the week. St. Philip’s is providing the sleeping space and Community Covenant is providing the meal. The Faith Community Shelter is scheduled for the second Saturday of the month. Volunteers are needed to prepare and/or serve the evening meal, and we are starting to put together a monthly schedule through the end of the year. The immediate need is for this month, June 13. If you are able to participate by preparing or serving the meal, please contact the church office 831-438-4276 or [email protected]. If you are interested in participating in the program in an upcoming month, please also contact the office.

Wednesday, June 17 at 6:30 pm concludes the spring Men’s Bible Study session. It meets in the church library. Look for information about fall Men’s Bible Study in future emails.

Friday, June 19, is the Men’s BBQ from 5-9 pm on the church patio. All men are welcome. Please bring a friend and enjoy a meal while getting to know other men in our community. Main meal/drinks/dessert provided. Please bring a side, salad or chips or just $3 for the basket.

Joni & Friends is in need of Short-Term Missionaries for the June 14-19 and the July 12-17 retreats at Mission Springs. We especially need people for campers of the ages of nursery to teens as well as a few “floaters” who can help set up activities, etc. If you are interested, please see Karen Meyers.
